Nokia recently launched the new Nokia 500, a new Symbian smartphone powered by the Symbian Anna OS. All of you who were expecting to see a high end smartphone which could compete with Android heavyweights like the Samsung Galaxy S 2 or the HTC Sensation, be disappointed. It’s just a standard Symbian touchscreen phone with a 1 GHz processor. Except bumping up the clock speed, Nokia doesn’t seem to have put in any effort at all, in the Nokia 500.

A nice, informative, article pramod. I've read about this release on a couple of other sites, and some of the posters are upset because there is no GPU; but they totally miss the fact that this is an entry level device! The price point and naming convention confirms 'entry level' status. Just not understanding how some folks want the specs to be similar to N8 at this price point. Some Nokia diehards are just unreasonable!

Though there are lots of items and accessories that help you stay in touch with your families as well as friends but cell phones are most useful and wide spread among them. It is because these small items are very handy and possess several features that simplify talking to the dears even if they are far enough from you. Every cell phone user has the freedom to make his favorable setting on his mobile in a manner he likes it to be. Does every Cell Phone contain Ring tones? The 500 looks similar to the previously announced N9, though it has a smaller 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen with a 640 x 360 pixel resolution. Nokia is positioning the 500 as a lower-cost alternative to the N9, and has equipped it with interchangeable back covers for easy personalization. The back houses a 5 megapixel camera with video capture.

he Nokia 500 may match its older stablemate for screen size and resolution, but significantly it's equipped with a capacitive touchscreen rather than the older resistive style on the Nokia 5230, which should make for a far more seamless and intuitive user experience.

ther goodies you can look forward to from the Nokia 500 include its Wi-Fi support and the pair of extra interchangeable battery covers that come with it in the box. In short, it's a massive step forward, and while you can't get your hands on the Nokia 500 just yet, there's no question that it'll be worth the wait!

It's a similar story with the camera. With just a 2-megapixel sensor on board and video recording limited to VGA-quality clips, the Nokia 5230 is no match for the Nokia 500's 5-megapixel camera and its 720p video support.

payal said...

In terms of overall dimensions there's not a lot in it, with the Nokia 500 a couple of millimetres wider but 1.4mm thinner, though it does weigh a full 22g less than the Nokia 5230.

The Nokia 500 is the latest addition to the Symbian fold, and like the Nokia E6 and Nokia X7 before it, it comes running the latest Symbian Anna operating system. But unlike those handsets it doesn't fall into Nokia's existing naming convention, but instead introduces a

The Nokia 500 also matches its C Series stablemates for screen resolutionat 360 x 640 pixels, though unlike the resistive-only Nokia C5-03 it features a capacitive touch panel

Battery-wise, the 1110mAh cell isn't far short of the 1200mAh unit offered by the Nokia E7 and Nokia N8, but with that 1GHz processor to power, it's no real surprise. All told you should be good for up to 7 hours of talktime, or up to 500 hours on standby.

payal said...

Sounds like a great starter smartphone. For the price I know I'd rather have this than a cheap Android. Don't why Nokia is following samsung cheap phone campaigns and compromising on quality i don't find anything eye catching in this phone.

payal said...

In pricing the Nokia 500 at €150 before local taxes and subsidies, Nokia isn't aiming at other Nokia handsets but rather at every budget smartphone rival out there, and most notably the competition from Android. It's certainly a price that will be hard to beat.

The Galaxy Ace includes features such as DLNA support and the ability to act as a Wi-Fi hotspot that the Nokia 500 is lacking, but then the Nokia has things like Nokia Maps baked right in, and comes with an extra pair of battery covers to help you personalise your handset's look. The point is that both these handsets do come with features that set it apart from the other – how important they are is down to the individual
